What Is a Brand?

Is it an image? Is it a color scheme? Is it a product? The word I like to use to describe a brand is “thought.” Your brand is a thought. Actually, it’s a collection of thoughts, specifically perceptions, held in the minds of every person who has come into contact at any level of your organization. A phone conversation with one of your representatives informs your “brand” for the customer who made the call. The box in which your product arrived informs your brand for the customer who received it. The smile the receptionist wore as your customer inquired about your services informs your brand. Every touch; an email sign-off, a website landing page, a complimentary pen, the front door–all of these things influence your customer’s perception of your brand.

Your brand lives in the minds of your customers.

In short, what I’m really saying is that your brand doesn’t live in your mind, but in the minds of your customers or clients. While you cannot change another person’s perception of your brand, you can intentionally shape your customer’s experience so their perception of your brand is closer to the vision you hold in your mind. The closer your customer’s perception is to your vision, the more connected you are to your customer which leads to stronger loyalty and greater profitability. With my consulting services, I will become intimately familiar with your goals and vision for your brand, I will determine the areas where your customers create the strongest brand perceptions, and I will develop strategies that will strengthen the effectiveness of those interactions, leading to a customer experience that will not only meet their immediate needs, but create a positive brand experience that will make them enthusiastic spokespersons for your business.

Preliminary Discussion

After getting in touch with me, I’ll schedule a time when we can have a FREE preliminary consultation, where I can learn about your business, we can discuss your goals, and, if we determine together that we are a good fit for one another, we can schedule a preparatory meeting and the formal consultation.

Research & Preparatory Meeting

Immediately after the initial phone call, I will set to work researching your business, industry, target customer, competitors, anything that will give me deeper insight into how your brand perception is normally shaped. In our preparatory meeting, we will discuss the specific strategies you are currently using to shape your customer’s brand perception and get deeper into your goals. During the preparatory meeting I will gather all of the information I need to come up with a comprehensive strategy for strengthening your companies brand presentation.

Formal Consultation

The formal consultation will be the final presentation of your custom branding strategy, including project timeline, estimated costs, and implementation techniques that will work for the unique needs of your business. I will show you how the strategies I’ve outlined will help your company reach its stated goals. I will also provide digital and physical reports outlining the contents of the final presentation in detail.
